When buying firewood it is important to remember these handy tips about storage:
Keep Your Wood Dry
It’s very important to keep any logs you have dry. This way you get the most heat out in an energy efficient way. If you’re storing wood outdoors then a proper log store is recommended. Plus keep a basket in the house with full of logs as they will dry even more with the heat indoors.
Ventilation
It’s also important for your logs to be properly aerated. Air should be able to flow around the wood which keeps the material in tip-top condition and ready to burn. This also prevents mould growing on the logs.
Convenience
Try to keep your logs close to your burner. This is just common sense really. Why walk to the end of the garden when you can put a log shed outside the back door. Carrying heavy wood long distances will soon become a hardship.
